2016 Inter Services Snow Sports Championships in Meribel with HRH - 3rd & final Day of the visit

4th February - Meribel, France

Today, the Army Navy RAF and Australian defence forces went head to head in the Alpine Ski Slalom Finals. All services had two heats, with one run per heat. The condition were tough with over cast weather followed by heavy showers of snow. Once again the Army came out on top dominating Gold Silver and Bronze in the mens competition. The RAF saw Gold in the womens final followed by Army then RAF.
The Countess of Wessex watched BT Telemark Sprint Final & presented prizes with Mr Bob Seymour from BT - CSWSA's sponsor. Podium positions:
  • 1st: Mne Angus Dobie, Royal Navy
  • 2nd: 2Lt Stefan Hurst, Army
  • 3rd: Maj Tiggs Chohan, Army
In between the two heats another event took place, the Sponsor Open Parallel Slalom where all the sponsors competed against each other. Joining them was Her Royal Highness The Countess of Wessex. HRH won her individual race but sadly her team lost their heat.

Yesterday, I chatted via Twitter with Forces TV about media coverage from Meribel, and I asked if they would, perhaps, be able to do an interview with HRH. Today, to my amazement, I have received a kind message with a link to the interview done my Mr Jon Knighton - Sports editor of BFBS Forces TV! Now, that's the power of social media!

HRH admitted to trying the sport back in the day (exactly 20 years ago, but who's counting) you can even view images of Sophie snowboarding in St Moritz with thanks to Getty Images.

In the afternoon, The Countess of Wessex attended the President’s Lunch at the Coeur du Cristal Restaurant. HRH also watched The Bechtel Alpine Ski Slalom Final & presented prizes with Mr Ike Richardson.
