Third day of the visit (4th March, Friday) - Abaco, Bahamas

Surprise, I am a lot sooner with a fresh new post. I wanted to send my huge thanks to Bradley Albury, Editor-in-Chief of The Abaconian Newspaper, who very kindly shared photos and highlights of today's royal visit.

Today, The Earl (Trustee) and Countess of Wessex (Global Ambassador) of The Duke of Edinburgh's International Award Foundation visited Forest Heights Academy at Abaco, Bahamas. In Abaco, TRH's have met all four of the island’s GGYA units, totaling around 100 participants.

At the Forest Heights Academy (a school in Abaco, The Bahamas) TRH's were treated to a youth rally by students of various other schools from throughout Abaco.

TRH's were invited to the school, to recognize the work and achievements of students in the Governor General's Youth Award (GGYA) program (an offshoot of the Duke of Edinburgh's Award ) of which the Prince is a Trustee & Countess is a Global Ambassador.

Following a brief speech by the Prince, he and the Countess toured the campus and reviewed presentations by different GGYA students (you can see that on the photos of TRH's talking to the youth.)

After the rally and speaking to the kids they met with other students as they were departing and were treated to a show of Junkanoo (Junkanoo is a Bahamian, cultural activity which involves music, dancing and colourful costumes.)

According to Wikipedia, Junkanoo is a street parade with music, dance, and costumes in many towns across the Bahamas every Boxing Day (December 26) and New Year's Day (January 1). The largest Junkanoo parade happens in the capital New Providence. Dances are choreographed to the beat of goatskin drums and cowbells.

Following the visit, The Earl and Countess of Wessex attended a private Reception and Lunch at The Abaco Inn, hosted by Ian Fair, a GGYA honorary trustee and World Fellowship member.
The royal couple returned to New Providence later today and attended a gala dinner fundraiser in aid of the GGYA at the British Colonial Hilton, 1 West Bay Street, Nassau. TRH's will depart The Bahamas early Saturday morning.

evening: Emilio Pucci draped-one-shoulder-evening-dress. No longer online as dates back to 2012. UFO scarf. New UFO drop earrings. Sophie Habsburg clutch in Amber style. DofE Award brooch made by Harry Collins. It is sold to raise funds along with pins & cuff-links.
Brooch consists of yellow and white gold and diamonds. It is similar in design to DofE Fellowship pin (pic on the right), but I won't be sure until I get to see better close up of HRH's brooch.
