Service of Lessons and Carols for Christmas in the Priory Church of the Order of St. John.

The Countess of Wessex, Grand President of St. John Ambulance in the Priory of England and the Islands, on the evening of 8th December (Tuesday), attended a Service of Lessons and Carols for Christmas in the Priory Church of the Order of St. John.

The event was followed by a Reception at St. John's Gate, St. John's Lane, Clerkenwell in London.

This is the second time Her Royal Highness has attended the event (the last being in 2006). On arrival, HRH was greeted by Councillor Kat Fletcher, Deputy Mayor of the London Borough of Islington and Mr Rodney Green CBE, Prior of the Priory of England and the Islands and Chairman of the St John Ambulance Board of Trustees.

The Service was led by The Very Reverend Nicholas Frayling, Dean of the Priory and formerly Dean of Chichester.

The Priory of England and the Islands is the English branch of the Order of St John, which is a British Royal Order of Chivalry and a major international humanitarian charity with 400,000 volunteers and staff in over 40 countries. The Priory is responsible for delivering the Order’s charitable mission in England. This is mainly undertaken through its subsidiary, St John Ambulance.

For now, I have no pictures to share, but of course I am hoping to update my post.
