Today, The Countess of Wessex as Patron of the National Autistic Society, attended the 'Swannell' Dinner at St. James's Palace in London. My post on HRH's Patronage can be found here. I believe this dinner was hosted by John Swannell, British photographer, who supports NAS and collaborated with the charity on the Transforming Lives project. His adult son, Charlie, has Asperger syndrome, a form of autism.

During this dinner HRH has given a 20 minute speech on the subject of autism, Mr Swannell said afterwards: 'She had obviously done her homework very thoroughly, we were enthralled and she even spoke about a close friend of hers who has an autistic child. Sophie spoke so eloquently that afterwards quite a few people come up and said they were so moved that they were going to donate more money.’ HRH has been Patron of NAS since August 2003. I am quite certain, this subject is very close to HRH's heart.
