Before I will move on to today's engagement, I wanted to post a link to a wonderful video recorded by Camilla Tominey, in which she speaks highly about The Countess of Wessex. You should remember Camilla Tominey was with HRH in Qatar. Everything she says reinforces my thoughts about HRH and gives me even more strength to shine the light on the wonderful job Sophie does. This year, those units were joined by CAMUS - HRH is Colonel-in-Chief since 2007. This was their first competition and they came third. Who knows, maybe QARANC will join next year?!
For the 6th time Armed Forces personnel from all four Services that Countess have honorary military appointments have pitted themselves against each other in the annual 'Countess of Wessex Cup'.
Teams consisting of airmen from RAF Wittering, sailors from HMS Daring, soldiers from 5th Battalion The Rifles (5 RIFLES) and army musicians from CAMUS, all faced a mixture of physical and mental challenges which saw some pushing the limits of their abilities.
The competing servicemen were observed as they battled against each other by the Cup’s namesake, Her Royal Highness The Countess of Wessex. The Countess of Wessex Cup enables Her Royal Highness to challenge her Units to compete in a series of challenges, as well as meet with their Commanding Officers and meet members of the Units.
This year, 'The Countess of Wessex Cup' was presented by HRH to 5 Rifles after they beat HMS Daring, RAF Wittering & CAMUS. Congratulations to all the winners. This must have been fun event for HRH. I wonder if the teams enjoyed it as much as the challenges can be quite brutal :)
The Countess of Wessex also met with the Landrat Manfred Muller (Chief Executive of council) and Burgermeister Michael Dreier (Mayor of Paderborn). The official photos have kindly been supplied by David Allen from the Army Press Office.
