Yesterday, on the 21st of June, The Earl & Countess of Wessex started their 4-day working visit to Canada. TRH's are accompanied by Mr Tim Roberts throughout the visit. In the morning, TRH's departed from Heathrow Airport, London, for Canada and were received on arrival (in the afternoon) at Toronto Pearson International Airport by the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario.

Their Royal Highnesses, accompanied by the Lieutenant Governor (the Hon. Elizabeth Dowdeswell), travelled on the Union Pearson Express train to Union Station, Toronto. Metrolinx spokesperson Anne Marie Aikins explained this decision: “They really didn’t want to get stuck in traffic".

Prince Edward and Sophie were welcomed at Union Station by Metrolinx president and CEO Bruce McCuaig and chair Robert Prichard who presented TRH's with a small remembrance of their visit.. Mrs Aikins said she enjoyed the short visit herself. She wore pearls for the occasion. “It was really exciting." On Twitter she added: "Very fun end to the day with The Royal Family. Metrolinx is a Crown agency that manages and integrates road transport and public transportation in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area in Ontario, Canada. The organization was created by the Government of Ontario under the name Greater Toronto Transportation Authority on April 24, 2006. It adopted the public name of Metrolinx in 2007.

In the evening, The Earl of Wessex as Chairman of the Board of Trustees of The Duke of Edinburgh's International Award Foundation, and The Countess of Wessex - Global Ambassador of the Award Foundation, attended a Charter for Business Dinner at Commerce Court West. Sadly event was considered private and pictures won't be shared. Getty has some images of TRH's arrival.
