The Countess arrived via helicopter and was welcomed with a sea of flying flags, held by 350 pupils. You can view a quick video of Sophie's arrival by clicking here.
Royal visitor was also greeted by Lord-Lieutenant of Dorset, Mr Angus Campbell and school's Head teacher, Mr Jeremy Payne, who said: "It is just a fantastic occasion and a chance for the whole community to come together and celebrate what has been achieved in everybody's name for the education of children in Sandford."
HRH has toured the school, met some children in their classes and specially invited guests before unveiling the plaque to mark the occasion of school's official opening. The Countess also gave a wonderful speech, you can view the video, by clicking here.
In words of Sandford School's Head teacher: "We're all a bit walking on air at the moment!! The Countess came, she toured, she met children, she gave a beautiful speech in the hall, she officially opened our school and she flew off again!"

Afterwards, HRH has travelled by helicopter to Ferndown, to visit the Heatherlands Community Centre and meet with volunteers and community groups. HRH was welcomed by representatives from Dorset County Council and East Dorset District Council. More in this article.

HRH was given a Ju-Jitsu Display and Demonstration from the Ferndown Jitsu Club, where The Countess took the opportunity and spoke with some of the Children, HRH then visited the Soft-Play Group, where she met some parents and played with toddlers. Sophie concluded her visit by unveiling a special plaque to commemorate the day. More about the visit in this link.

Later, HRH has opened 'The Reef' Colehill and Wimborne Youth and Community Centre, which provides award schemes such as Dorset Awards and ASDAN Awards to help young people promote their skill and abilities to future employers, colleges and Grammar Schools.
This centre, following 10 long years of fundraising and raising over £535,000 has been rebuilt in 2014. The new building has an open recreation area on the ground floor which was configured as required for a variety of indoor sporting activities, workshops and events. The upper floor hase a Kitchen and Coffee Bar, Computer Suite and a Quiet Room for study. It also contains a lift for people with additional needs. For now, I wasn't able to get information and pictures regarding this visit, will try to update in due time.
Approximately at 2 pm., The Countess has arrived at the Trinity Centre in Shaftesbury to view the Trinity Hall Project and meet Civic Party outside the centre. Aferwards, HRH has moved on to the ground floor to meet staff and clients of the Day Centre.
The £300,000 project involves the installation of a lift and an upgrade of the first floor hall to 21st century standards At present the hall is used by the scout group every week day evening and the occasional weekend, but when the upgrade is completed, it will be available during the day and at weekends for use by the community. The Countess then planted a lime tree in Trinity Churchyard as well as snowdrop bulbs of Snowdrops project. As a tribute to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on her Diamond Jubilee, the people of Shaftesbury began planting thousands of snowdrops in public places around the town to create a series of scenic, accessible, snowdrop walks and to develop our unique, sustainable 21st century legacy. The Countess has agreed to sign the record book signed by everone who participates in the bulb planting. Lovely pictures of HRH taken by James Thrift Photography.
Then HRH was escorted by the Mayor Richard Tippins, to the High Street where she met children from local schools before meeting community groups in the Town Hall and taking a look at Gold Hill Museum.

During her visit to Shaftesbury town centre, The Countess has met girls and Mr James of St Mary's Shaftesbury - independent school for girls aged 11-18.

St Mary's is a Roman Catholic Girls' School, boarding and day, founded on the principles of Mary Ward. Her vision and school's mission is to educate each individual to the highest standards through fostering traditional values in the spirit of the Gospel. More about the meeting at school's website.
Finally, The Countess visted the Rose Garden on Park Walk to meet other community groups before meeting members of the public on Park Walk. HRH was presented with a bouquet of flowers by five year old Julia Watts before leaving Shaftesbury with the Lord Lieutenant.
