So we are back at work. The Countess of Wessex as Patron of England Hockey, attended the Euro Hockey Championships at the Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre, Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, London E20.
EuroHockey Championships is an international men’s and women’s hockey competition, organised by the EHF (European Hockey Federation) and has been around since 1970. The Championships see the top eight European national men’s and women’s teams battle it out for the top prize over 40 matches.

According to the Daily Mail (to which btw I wouldn't link, as it is in its typical tabloid manner but it has few nice pictures) 'reported' that Sophie, before the game, enjoyed a bit of hockey by herself. She was joined by her daughter, Lady Louise and they both took turns at shooting goals.
During HRH's visit to the Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre, The Countess has thanked the Hockey Makers at Euro Hockey. With the EuroHockey Championships in full swing, Charity Join In has teamed up with England Hockey to promote the sport at grassroots level. Charity’s aim is to put more volunteers into community sport. Volunteers help more people get active and Join In recognizes the huge value they contribute to a happier, healthier nation.

Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre is located in the north of Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and is owned and managed by Lee Valley Regional Park Authority. The £30 million Centre was opened in June 2014. It is made up of two outdoor hockey pitches and four indoor and six outdoor tennis courts. The Centre was created to continue to 2012 London Games legacy.

The Countess, who has been England Hockey Patron since January 2007 [my post here], watched today's games with her daughter Louise. They were clearly enjoying their time together and looked extremely happy after they saw England win 3-1 after shootout.

They were sitting next to the Lady Alexandra Etherington - Louise's godmother, and her daughter Amelia whom Sophie is godmother to.

Maddie has said: “That’s impossible! Literally, the best, best feeling in the world and God do we deserve it. We’ve had some lows but this has been one hell of a summer and this has been coming. I’m just in a state of shock. I don’t know what to say. It just shows the level of belief in our team at the moment to come from two goals down, to say ‘we’re not giving up on this’ and that’s exactly what we did.” More in this link.

The Countess couldn't hold the tears of joy when she was handing trophy to today's winners. Lovely video here. I want to congratulate women's team from the bottom of my heart as well! It was great to see them win today! Especially that last year they were so close at winning finals during XX Commonwealth Games - post here.
