Today, The Countess of Wessex as President of The New Forest Agricultural Show Society, attended first day of The New Forest and Hampshire County Show at New Park in Brockenhurst, Hampshire. This year's show takes place from 26 to 28 July. The Countess, who has been Patron of the Association of Show and Agricultural Organisations since 2012, will return tomorrow for the second day of the show.

I was very happy to see Emily Nash of Hello and photographers, Mark Cuthbert & Tim Rookie with HRH today, (even though I cannot use their pics), but at least I know what The Countess was enjoying today. Sophie was wearing a stirrup brooch - symbol of the New Forest.

Sophie met 5 year old Arthur Jones and his show sheep Bubbles today. But it wasn't the first time the two have met, as Arthur first caught The Countess' attention, when he was only 2 years old. Back in 2013 Sophie attended The New Forest Show with Prince Edward and then she met Arthur for the very first time.
Arthur is Britain’s youngest shepherd, he has been herding and caring for his own little flock since he was just 1 year old, under the tutelage of his grandma Nicky Jesse, one of the country’s few shepherdesses. Arthur is also the youngest ever member of the Poll Dorset and Dorset Horn Sheep Breeders’ Association.
Arthur was born two-and-a-half months prematurely and has cerebral palsy. His lower body has been affected by the condition: doctors warned that he would not walk until he was four. But Arthur took his first steps unaided in September 2013 (when he was 2 years old), and his mum is certain his exceptional progress can be attributed to the extraordinary bond between him and sheep Twinkle, who like Arthur, was born prematurely. Daily Mail has a lovely article, click here.

During today's show, The Countess learnt how to make a beeswax candle. If you would like to try it at home, you would need beeswax sheets (they can come in variety of colours) and some primed wick. Then you just roll the beeswax around the wick. Sounds easy? Here's tutorial.
Sophie watched performance of Milton Academy of Dance students who were dressed as Spice Girls: Ginger Spice - Megan Rogers, Baby Spice - Bonnie Cregg, Scary Spice - Phoebe Littlewood, Victoria Beckham - Isabelle Gorman, Sporty Spice - Effie Hastelow. Milton Academy Dance explained that girls have been dancing in their school since very young and are leaving for uni this September. "What a way to finish"! After the performance girls convinced The Countess to take a selfie with them using selfie stick! And I thought I have seen everything :) Hello has pics.
Also HRH The Countess of Wessex presented the Supreme Cattle Championship Cup to Mikali Secure Adella. The award for Best Large Stand came to CE of The New Forest National Park Authority. Pics here.
