The National Service of Thanksgiving at St Paul's Cathedral

Today, at 11am The Queen, accompanied by The Duke of Edinburgh, attended the National Service of Thanksgiving at St Paul's Cathedral, marking HM's 90th birthday. Other members of the Royal Family also attended - altogether 53 members (including HM The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh).

Let's start with The Wessex family, as it was first such major occasion attended by them in full force. We have seen, TRH's Earl and Countess of Wessex with their eldest daughter, Lady Louise, and youngest member of their family, Viscount James.

The Countess of Wessex looked absolutely stunning in her coat-dress by Suzannah and Jane Taylor Millinery hat. But it was Lady Louise who made the word "Lady" so fitting, she looked so! darling in her pink coat from Zara and headband by Jane Taylor. I am still in awe by this duo.

We have also seen The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge with Prince Harry, but I will write more about this trio at my twin blog, later on. The Duke of York attended with his two daughters, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, pretty in red dress by Eponine.

Today's service which was broadcast live on BBC One, marked the beginning of a weekend of events to celebrate HM's official birthday that all featured the military, including  the annual Queen’s Birthday Parade (Trooping the Colour) on Saturday 11 June, and The Patron’s lunch, a street party on The Mall on Sunday 12 June to celebrate Her Majesty’s patronage of over 600 charities and other organisations.

More than eighty Service personnel, representing military units from around the UK that have a special connection with The Queen, were invited to line the steps leading to the West door of St Paul’s for Her Majesty’s arrival. The step liners all then attended the service in the Cathedral.

I also wanted to wish the most happy 95th birthday to Prince Philip, The Duke of Edinburgh!
To mark this occasion The Royal Family released (at the beginning of a weekend of national and Commonwealth celebrations) the final portrait in the series of official photographs to mark Her Majesty The Queen's 90th Birthday. The portrait of The Queen with HRH The Duke of Edinburgh was taken by Annie Leibovitz at Windsor Castle just after Easter.

HM The Queen about her husband: "He has, quite simply, been my strength & stay all these years".

Outfit & jewellery:
New, Suzannah coat-dress - bespoke design. After Suzannah blog:
"HRH Sophie Countess of Wessex wore a bespoke coat dress which we designed specifically for this occasion. The coat dress was originated from a beautiful 1940’s archive piece which we sourced in Paris earlier in the year and was originally from the States. The beautiful soft shoulder line and elegant collar-line lengthened the silhouette and acted as a beautiful frame to support the full  fluid skirt part. The waistline was pitched slightly higher and swept down into the small of the back to give plenty of space for a dramatic hem sweep.
The coat dress was cut to be slightly a-frame at the front to skim the hips, with the fullness and drama thrown into the back seam-lines. The front hemline was rounded and soft to echo the raglan shoulder and collar with subtle echoes of this curvature in the cuff too.
The entire coat was made in London from a beautiful wool silk, and fully lined in silk whilst being fully mounted onto silk organza.
The result, a demure feminine piece which was worn with of course upmost elegance and grace.
Jane Taylor created the beautiful millinery, which she created to match the coat dress".
