James Bond Producers, Michael G Wilson and Barbara Broccoli have lent their support to the DofE Charity for the ‘Diamonds are Forever’ fundraising gala, an event that has been personally championed by HRH The Countess of Wessex, and produced by the DofE Women in Business Committee, of which she is chair - a group set up by HRH in 2003 to help the DofE with its fundraising and development. Through its support of the DofE, the DofE Women in Business Committee is dedicated to aiding the Charity in equipping young people with the self-belief and work-ready skills they need to succeed.

Their Royal Highnesses arrived at Stoke Park at 7pm, where they met Members of the Women in Business Committee before attending a reception for supporters, celebrity Ambassadors and past and present James Bond cast and crew including Sir Roger Moore, Dame Judi Dench and Naomie Harris. Michael G Wilson, Barbara Broccoli and members of the DofE Women in Business Committee were also in attendance on the night hosted by David Walliams. Stoke Park was chosen as the location having featured in the films Goldfinger and Tomorrow Never Dies.

The Duke of Edinburgh and The Earl and Countess of Wessex then attended a private Gala dinner. Funds raised through #DiamondsForeverGala will support The DofE Award's Diamond Ambition of reaching 2 million more young people by the year 2020. Prince Edward received his gold Duke of Edinburgh's award from his father at St James' Palace on the 22nd July 1986.

I think it is also worth mentioning, that at the time of Prince Edward and Sophie's wedding, The Queen declared her intention that Edward will be elevated as The Duke of Edinburgh when the title reverts to the Crown. So his father's legacy will live on through Edward and his wife, who will become The Duchess of Edinburgh. And hopefully in the distant future, through TRH's kids.
