Today in the evening, Her Majesty The Queen, accompanied by His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh and other members of the Royal Family, attended the annual Royal British Legion Festival of Remembrance at the Royal Albert Hall. The royal party was received by Mrs Anthony Travis (President of the Royal Albert Hall) and Vice-Admiral Peter Wilkinson (President of the Royal British Legion).
Those who attended this year, apart from HM The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, The Duke of York, The Earl and Countess of Wessex, The Princess Royal and Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence, The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, The Duke of Kent, Prince and Princess Michael of Kent and Princess Alexandra, the Honourable Lady Ogilvy.
I must say watching the Festival of Remembrance is a very moving experience and also very inspiring. I wish each country could honour in such incredible way, veterans and those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice. I loved seeing on the live feed the Flying Officer Ken Wilkinson, whom Sophie met when she attended 75th Anniversary of Battle of Britain. You can read about that in my post, here.
Also Andrea Bocelli singing Italian version of 'Now we are free' from Gladiator's soundtrack, had me in tears. On a side note it's one of the best movies ever made. The same thing happened during "Amazing Grace" sung by Gregory Porter.
But the most incredible thing was to learn, that The Countess of Wessex did a lesson reading during the event, as reported by Joe Little of Majesty Magazine. He wrote: "A squeeze of the hand for Sophie from Edward when she retuned to the #royal box after her Festival of Remembrance lesson reading".
The Countess attended the festival in her capacity as Colonel in Chief of Queen Alexandra's Royal Army Nursing Corps. It was in theme with this year's recognition of those who have helped during Ebola crisis in Sierra Leone.
It was especially lovely to see Cpl Anna Cross, who joined the Army Reserves in 2013 as a staff nurse. She volunteered to travel to Sierra Leone to help care for Ebola. And while working as a nurse she was infected with the deadly virus. Thankfully Royal Free Hospital has provided her with the exceptional care and provided the experimental drug wich saved her life. The Countess has met Cpl Anna Cross during reception for QARANC & the Royal Free Hospital, you can read about it in my post, here.
The Royal British Legion's annual Festival of Remembrance takes place at the Royal Albert Hall each year, on Saturday, the day before Remembrance Sunday. The Festival commemorates all those who have lost their lives in conflicts.
This year's programme included special guest artists, Rod Stewart, Pixie Lott, Andrea Bocelli and Gregory Porter performing alongside the Central Band of the Royal Air Force, the Queen's Colour Squadron, the Band of HM Royal Marines, and the Band and Pipes of the Brigade of Gurkhas.
To learn more about the history of the Festival, please read my post from 2014, which can be found here. Article by Daily Mail can be found here.

I must say each royal lady looked very pretty tonight, HM The Queen was lovely in black dress (this colour really suits HM), and Bahrain Pearl Drop Earrings that were once worn by The Countess.
I also adored looks of Duchess of Gloucester and Princess Alexandra. Gallery of those who attended can be found at Zimbio.
But now I'll move on to my favourite royal lady :)
