Yesterday, The Countess of Wessex along with Prince Edward attended first day of ASCOT Autumn Racing Weekend featuring 9th Ascot CAMRA Beer Festival. The Earl and Countess of Wessex, Founders of Wessex Youth Trust held a Luncheon at Ascot Racecourse, Berkshire.
Friday's action-packed racecard included the LondonMetric Noel Murless Stakes which is run over a mile and six furlongs. The Countess has placed a GBP 10 bet on a runner and after the race HRH presented the trophy to the winner, Robert Havlin riding Mill Springs.
Nick Smith, head of communications at Ascot Racecourse said: “The two-day Autumn Racing Weekend and CAMRA Beer Festival is now in its ninth year and continues to be an extremely popular day at the racecourse. It combines an interesting afternoon’s racing, in particular on Saturday with the running of the Totescoop6 Challenge Cup, with the opportunity to sample a broad range of beers, ciders and perries.” Source.
Today, on the 2nd day of the Camra Festival, two Rugby World Cup games were shown on a big screen and bands performed live music throughout the afternoon. So far I am not aware if The Wessex couple attended Saturday's event as well. Yesterday was missed by me, as the pictures appeared either very late in the evening, or today in the morning.
