Today, HRH The Countess of Wessex visited Treloar School and College as Royal Patron of The Treloar Trust, to officially open the newly renovated Evans House in Hampshire. The Countess, last visited the campus in June 2014. You can read about that visit at my blog, click here.

Upon arrival The Countess of Wessex was welcomed by Lord Lieutenant of Hampshire Mr Nigel Atkinson and his wife Christine and was greeted by several senior council officials. After the formalities, Her Royal Highness then moved into the common room of Evans House to meet the key staff who helped make the project a success, followed by a tour of Evans House to meet the students and staff on the house.

Evans House was one of Treloar’s original older 1960s style buildings; it has been extensively reconfigured and refurbished into 6 independence flats and 14 en-suite rooms. The accommodation provides College students with the ability to gain essential skills and experience and ensures they make a successful transition when they leave Treloar’s.

The school and college are administered by Treloar Trust a registered charity - HRH is their Royal Patron, info on HRH's Patronage can be found here.

Many people refer to one or all of the Treloar trinity (School, College and Trust) as "Treloar's" and indeed the official logo is "Treloar's: Enabling Education". As the largest non-maintained specialist provision of its kind in the UK, Treloar’s relies on private donations to sustain the level of care the students receive.

Also today, The Countess as Patron of Tomorrow's People, an innovative national employment charity that is transforming people's lives through work; held a Dinner at her house - Bagshot Park, in Surrey. I'm afraid we won't be seeing any pictures.

In London, Prince Edward, The Earl of Wessex as Honorary Air Commodore of Royal Air Force Waddington, attended a Service to Commemorate the Seventy Fifth Anniversary of the Battle of Britain at St. Paul's Cathedral. He was joined by Polish President, Andrzej Duda who is currently with a 2-day visit in UK, with whom Prince met earlier at Buckingham Palace.

Also, I have to mention birthday boy, Prince Harry, who on the eve of his 31st birthday, attended the Battle of Britain Flypast at Goodwood Aerodrome in West Sussex. He was due to fly as well, but first the flypast was delayed for two hours because of horrid weather condition. Later it turned out that Prince Harry won't be able to fly as one of the four Spitfires has broken down.

Prince Harry gave up his place to a veteran, Battle of Britain pilot and two former servicemen. Battle of Britain's Hurricane & Spitfire Pilot, Wing Commander Tom Neil, 95, lead the formation from the rear seat of a Spitfire. If you would like to read more about that event and Prince's beard which was sensation today, I think equally big as Duchess of Cambridge's bangs recently, click here.
