'Get to know me' type of post...

After a year and a half of royal blogging, perhaps it's time for you to know me a bit better. Not sure if it's a good idea or not, you can leave your comments/questions and I will try to answer those.

my work station
I often get asked why/how it all started. Well first there were news of royal engagement and soon after royal wedding - which I've watched and was enchanted... Like we all I suppose.
Kensington Palace and its garden
So it started with Catherine, but I rather quickly noticed The Countess of Wessex. She was hard to miss with her smile and great style. But I was really frustrated with the lack of info in press of HRH's engagements and pictures, so after about 2 years I decided to take that matter into my own hands.

Also, since 2011 I've started dealing with an anxiety disorder (it's a form of neurosis) and I really needed something which will help keep myself busy, so first I set up my Facebook account (here), then Twitter (here) and blog followed afterwards. I also write about The Duchess of Cambridge, as some of my readers wanted me to "expand". My fellow bloggers encouraged me to do so as well, so I must send my thanks to What Kate Wore & Kate Middleton Style.

However my approach was different. I wasn't interested only in style, mostly I was interested in HRH's work ethic, organizations she supports and how she conducts her royal duties. That's why I started with introducing HRH and her Patronages. Rest, as they say, is a history.
Stonehenge - it was my huge dream to visit it
Here I will put some 'interesting' (ehm) facts about myself and some pictures as well. I started with a lot more pics to share but I guess it's not as easy as one might would think. Plus that post would never end.
I am 37 years old, live in the south of Poland (very urban part) and work as a kindergarten teacher.
Anna at work, singing One little finger during lesson about London.
I always wanted to teach, but it's not an easy job, expecially now with permissive parenting kids. But it's a subject for a book, not this blog :)
Perks of my job - visit to the fire station & acting like a kid without feeling guilty about it
My timeless icon both inside and outside was/is/will be Audrey Hepburn. She had an amazing personality, incredible sense of style and goodness like no one else. I think I have around 35 books about her, all her movies and some memorabilia.
Almost like Audrey, trying to capture that perfect jump. Audrey was photographed in the suburbs of Rome, near the villa she rented during filming of "War and Peace". Photo is from series of 'Jump' pictures taken by Philippe Halsman.
In 2009 I finally was able to visit Switzerland and a place where she lived for 30 years till her death - Tolochenaz. It was a very emotional visit and one I will never forget. Her body was laid to rest in the nearby cemetary.
Audrey's place "La Paisible"
I am a huge movie buff, it started in 1994 with Sandra Bullock & Keanu Reeves in 'Speed". I have some favourite actresses and actors. One wished me happy birthday thanks to Twitter.
One of my favourite movies is "Dear Frankie" with Gerard Butler, before he became huge movie star, and since then played in some really bad movies... In 2009, during my visit to Scotland I visited places that movie was shot, mostly Greenock and Glasgow. It was one of the best experiences of my life. There was really nothing 'fancy' to see, but it was simply great.
Greenock
I love animals, sometimes I prefer their company, they never judge you. I am more of a cat person, I had a cat since I was 19 or so. First it was Kicek - boy, we've been inseparable for 12 years, but he was taken by an illness in 2011. Since then I have a girl - Pola. She often sits with me when I write my posts. Sometimes I call her Hrabina (Countess), she keeps her head high and has a very royal posture.
Kicek & Pola - no matter how 'big' the box, the cat will always fit!
But my brother has a lovely jack russell terrier, called Hugo. He's often with me. My cat accepts him, though it wasn't easy at first.
Anna & Hugo
Horses are magnificent creatures. I had a few riding lessons, and some said I was natural, but I never pursued it further. Something I should change, I believe.

I love dancing, I used to attend ballroom dance lessons (for quite some time), but there is always lack of good dancing partners. My favourite dances are tango (especially argentino) and rumba. But I do love waltz - classic or vienna. Also salsa and cha-cha. Dancing is a great cardio.
this is just free-style :-)
I think our Silesian folklore is worth preserving. We have beautiful, colourful costumes, though we no longer use/wear them. However I get to teach about it my kids at work.
At work
I don't need glasses - I have an eagle sight, but sometimes it takes hours to write a post, so I got myself a pair, that keep my eyes safe. Plus fancy frames can change your whole look.
at work, again
Costume parties can be fun - my favourite type of parties, you can be someone else for a day. I got to be geisha, flapper girl, Queen of Hearts and more.
Cherry Blossoms :-)
On very rare occasions I pose for my friends. I am a keen photographer as well, but I do like having pics taken as well, the one below was from a series of 'fairy-tales'.
Sleeping 'Beauty' :-)
I love hats, I often wish I would live in Britain, I would wear a hat all the time, in Poland it's not so popular. Instead I wear sunglasses. I never leave my house without a pair, I have so many different ones, currently my favourite are Givenchy worn by Kate. They are elegant and go with every outfit.
In London I felt free and didn't care what others thought of my hat!
I used to holiday in a tiny Polish village. There was nothing except for a lake, forrests, fields and meadow. One shop open for an hour per day and a church. We didn't have computers, phones etc, but those were the best days. We simply were kids enjoying being young and free of worries.
Polish field at sunset
I love travelling, though it's mostly around Poland, we have some beautiful places to visit. My anxiety limites me a bit, but I try hard not to give up.
Winter in Polish mountains (here, Ochodzita - Silesian Beskids)
Early Autumn (my favourite time of year) in Bieszczady Mountains
When I travel, I always carry a camera to capture places I visit. At first it was really a tiny camera, just point-shot type.
At Arthur's Seat in Edinburgh
But since then I have changed it into a semi professional one, much bigger Nikon. It can be quite heavy, but the pictures are worth it.
Glencoe, Scotland - incredible place with incredible though bloody history.
I love all things Scotland, I really miss this place. Weather can be tricky, but frankly Poland is no better.
somewhere in Fort William
Rannoch Moor is one of my favourites places in the world I have seen so far. It is a moorland located near Glencoe in the area of Highland Scotland. It is one of the last remaining wildernesses in Europe.
Rannoch Moor
Glencoe - the site of the Massacre of Glencoe in 1692, in which 38 members of the Clan MacDonald of Glencoe were killed by forces acting on behalf of the government of King William III following the Glorious Revolution. It's famous of stunning views, mountains, lochs. It was featured in many movies.
Glencoe
There you will meet very cute Scottish cows - Highland cattle. They have long horns and long wavy coats that are coloured black, brindle, red, yellow, or dun. Magnificent creatures.
Highland Cattle near Glencoe visitor's centre
During my second visit to Scotland I finally get to see a part of Isle of Skye. It's really a magical place if you like to be out alone with nature and stunning views. Sadly we only had 2 days, so we didn't get to wander as much as I would love to.
Old Man of Storr - Isle of Skye
Few more pictures of some of the places I visited and captured with my camera.
Morskie Oko (Eye of The Sea) in Poland
Prague - Charles Bridge
Geneva Lake
I know it was a long post, but maybe you'll find some of it interesting. If you have some questions, feel free to post them in the comments section or simply shoot me an email.
